THE SAINT VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY
The Saint Vincent de Paul society (SVP) is a parish-based society which, since its foundation in Paris in 1833, has spread throughout the world.
The aim of the society is to provide members with the means to demonstrate their Christian faith by serving those in need. Although the needs of the people can vary according to circumstances, the main work of our parish conferences is visiting the sick or elderly housebound in their homes, in nursing homes or in hospital. Other tasks can include providing transport to hospital appointments, doing shopping, organising fund-raising events, giving financial or moral support and arranging for the provision of clothing and furniture from the Birkenhead SVP shop.
If you are interested in joining one of the SVP Conferences in the Area please contact the Parish Priest or Parish Conference President.
